Donation of Swimming Resuscitation Training Simulators Laerdal Medical (UK), the world-renown manufacturers of many different kinds of medical trauma simulators and trainers, kindly donated a Little Anne and a Baby Anne resuscitation training manikin to the Women’s Swimming Project. Many thanks to Mr Murray Beg of Laerdal for making this gift possible. D. M. Wood Medical of Dyce, near Aberdeen, in turn, have kindly donated a Little Junior resuscitation trainer, thus equipping the Women’s Swimming Project with the third manikin needed to make up the complete training trio. The resuscitation simulators will be used to qualify Sri Lankan swimming teachers, teaching assistants, pool lifeguards, poolside first-aid helpers and pool maintenance staff in emergency resuscitation procedures as part of their training by the Aid Sri Lanka Foundation’s Women’s Swimming Project. Without the resuscitation devices, the trainees cannot be certified as proficient to International Standards, so the manikins are a really important asset to the success of their program. Thanks also to Sue Brown, a Swimming Training Association Tutor who made the requests to these two companies. Sue has just flown out to join Christina Fonfe in Weligama and help run swimming courses for women as part of Sri Lanka’s post-tsunami recovery process. |
